I wrote a poem about you once, it
went: you’re so damn classy
you are the crystal carafe of top-
shelf liquor I would keep on my desk
if I were rich and liked drinking
as much as I like getting high
and thinking about your neck.
this is me telling you that one out
of twenty-one days I want to lop
the flesh from my frame just
to see what is left. Just to ask
my organs where they keep
all the feelings & they say sshhh
you’re going to wake the cells. Ask
the molecules but on the atomic
level everyone is too busy changing
into energy into light into your thighs
& I envy every last quark that can
pass through you as it pleases. Outside
my head, my room the wind is shouting
so hard it’s got all the trees doubled over.
